Pewter for the Table
A Great Workshop for Sculptors, Blacksmiths, Metalsmiths and Jewelers!

Students must supply:- – 10" half round bastard cut file with handle
- – Old used files (contamination issues with pewter mean these files become pewter files)
- – Hand towel
- – 6" tweezers, preferably stainless steel
- – Aviation snips
- – Rubber mallet
- – Masking tape
- – Basic jewelry tools, layout and measuring tools, dividers if possible
- – Inexpensive leather work gloves
- – A sack lunch!
- – Pewter 16ga. Sheet
- – 60/40 solder (no lead solder)
- – Sta-Clean flux
- – Stakes and hammers
- – Stumps
- – Torches with Smith or Presto-Lite tips, small to large
- – Work bench and planning space, display space
- – Buffing and polishing equipment and supplies
The Workshop will include information about:
Fabricating – scoring and folding, tool making, soldering, collapsing, threading, finishing
For this first project it is suggested that you do a small container form, flower vase, salt and pepper shakers, perfume flask, etc.
Raising and Forming – fusing a seam, shaping techniques, rims, combination with cast elements, handles, as well as pitchers, teapot, cups, bowls, goblets, etc.
Flatware – sinking, forging, casting a handle, serving pieces, ladle, spoons, tea strainers/infusers, etc.
