The Dimensional Model: Imagining in Scale
A Great Workshop for Sculptors, Blacksmiths, Metalsmiths and Jewelers!
Taught by visiting artist, lecturer and Master Metalsmith, Gary Griffin, El Rito, New Mexico

Saturday & Sunday, October 25 & 26, 2008

Students must supply:
  • – Architect's Scale, Staedtler item # 448921 from officedepot.com
  • – If you have basic metalworking hand tools bring them
  • – Matt board
  • – Matt knives
  • – Straight edge, steel ruler will do
  • – Aluminum foil
  • – If you have sheet metal scraps, any material, bring them
  • – Tissue paper
  • – Tooth picks
  • – Wooden skewers
  • – Bring a piece of work (or photograph) to share
  • – Found objects (small), natural materials or any material/supply of interest to them. A bag/box of interesting stuff.
The class fee will include:
  • – Hot glue gun, supply of glue
  • – Low temperature solder
  • – Liquid flux for solder
  • – Jewelers Torch
  • – Jewelers pliers or basic needle nose pliers for bending
  • – Diagonal cutters for cutting wire
  • – Abrasive paper (80, 120, 220 grit)
  • – 1/16" steel welding rod, 2-3 pounds
  • – Binding wire (several thicknesses)
  • – Sheet metal scraps
  • – Snips
  • – Several spray cans of a fast drying grey primer like Krylon.
