Gary's studio, Sunburst Metalworks, is located within a forested wildlife refuge on the western shores of Puget Sound. Frequent encounters with wildlife are a continual source of inspiration for his sculpture.

Gary Jackson: Standing Heron

Standing Heron

Stainless steel, mild steel, bronze,
found objects. Ht.= 79"

Our work is fabricated, most often in rather large scale - from tabletop size to monumental. We work mainly in stainless steel (3/16" thick plate is a preference), but often include bronze, steel or Cor-Ten®.

I enjoy using all types of surface textures in my work, from the highly polished "serious and formal" stainless steel - to the more "fun and whimsical" rusty found-object assemblages.

In addition to wildlife sculpture, fine sculptured metal signage (in stainless) is a specialty. I find that when these two forms are combined, the result is especially satisfying.

I am constantly pursuing new and different ways to approach design elements that add interest and balance my work.

Nearly all my work is sold by special commission, gallery exhibits are rare. I greatly enjoy working with clients to arrive at a sculpture design solution for their special needs. Visit our website and then contact us with your ideas!
