We offer something for everyone – traditional and contemporary jewelry and metal arts fans alike. And we aim to make these opportunities affordable.
The Seattle Metals Guild understands how important it is to reach beyond the borders of our membership and interact with those outside of our organization. Community Outreach is part of our mission. It’s what keeps us vital and involved, helps expand our field and contributes to society. Four main programs comprise our Outreach Program.
Passing the Torch, a statewide jewelry and metals arts competition and exhibition for high school students, ensures the continuity and longevity of our field by extending a hand to the next generation and showcasing their work. Exhibitions are a key link in the chain between makers and the greater community involving, educating and exciting the public about our field and providing a platform for members to see and share work. The Women’s Shelter Jewelry Project allows members to directly help others by using their skills to redesign and repurpose donated and no longer used jewelry and put it in the hands of those most in need. Finally, our Scholarship program offers hard cash to metal artists and makers looking to advance their skills and take advantage of new learning opportunities.
