Metals Mixer

Metals Mixer

Please join us for some, or all, of the upcoming Metals Mixers, SMG’s social gatherings. These laid back events are the perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow Guild members, and to check out neat hangout spots around the area.  Look for the chasing hammer to find our group.

Mixers are held in a variety of locations around the Seattle area – watch your email, Facebook, and upcoming newsletters for location details.

Need more information or would like to suggest a location or host a Metals Mixer? Please send an email to metalsmixers@seattlemetalsguild.org.

Ornament Exchange Holiday Party

Ornament ExchangeThe SMG Ornament Exchange Holiday Party has been a banner Guild event for more than 20 years! Eat, drink, be merry, and get a great ornament!

How it works: All those who make an ornament for the tree will drop their names into a basket then draw the name of another artist, whose ornament they will take home. This is a great opportunity to explore something new at your bench and share what you do with your friends and colleagues. And yes, there will be a tree on which to display all the amazing creations!

Don’t have time to make an ornament, or just not ready to show us all what you do? IT’S OKAY – PLEASE COME ANYWAY. Really, it’s okay. PLEASE NOTE: This is an SMG MEMBER EVENT. Be sure your membership is current or you will not be able to receive the address for the party.

This is a potluck, so bring a favorite dish. The Guild will provide the drinks, and our host will have holiday treats.

Next Ornament Exchange: Saturday, December 10, 2016 – 6:00pm – 9:00pm – TBA

Studio Tour

Studio Tour - Nancy Worden's StudioThe studio tour is a great opportunity to socialize with other members and pick up good ideas for your own studio. Mark your calendars and head to SODO Saturday, July 15th. Our tour includes the studios of two of our new board members, Peggy Foy and Maru Almeida. Peggy has recently set up shop in the new ’57 Biscayne studio building in Pioneed Square and is excited to share her new digs with SMG members. Maru shares a well-established studio just up the hill with 4 jewelers including SMG founder Micki Lippe. Micki has been in this space since its inception 12 years ago. Currently, the studio members are Micki Lippe, Maru Almeida, Iris Guy, Jennifer Howard-Kincinski, and Jennifer Bennett. There will be snacks available and suggested restaurants will be provided for those who wish to have lunch after the last tour.

Next Studio Tour: TBA

Summer Picnic

SMG Summer PicnicThe Summer Picnic is an annual Seattle Metals Guild tradition. Held at one of Seattle’s lovely parks, members can enjoy a little fresh air, good food, and the company of other metal artists. The Guild provides the meat and the heat, members are asked to bring a dish to share. Play Frisbee or bocce, talk about everything under the sun (literally, if the weather is nice!), or even go scavenge for cool bits and pieces to use in your next masterpiece. Be sure to join us for food, (maybe) sun, and fun!
