Your Work, Your Voice — Be Part of Show & Tell

An example of our online sharing format for discussion

The Seattle Metals Guild fosters jewelers and metalsmiths to share their knowledge, celebrate one another’s work, and build community. This fall, the Guild is launching a new way for members to connect: Show & Tell, an online event series dedicated to sharing and discussing work in a supportive, creative environment.

A Space for Sharing and Conversation

In Show & Tell, Guild members present images or short videos of their work—whether finished pieces or works in progress—to the group for conversation. It’s not a critique session in the traditional sense, but rather a flexible and welcoming space where each artist can shape the type of feedback they’d like to receive.

Maybe you’re seeking encouragement and accolades, or perhaps you’re looking for technical troubleshooting, conceptual feedback, or thoughts on where to take a project next. Whatever your goals, Show & Tell provides a platform for members to engage with one another’s ideas and celebrate the diverse practices within our metals community.

How It Works

Participation is simple. Members who want to share work can sign up through the Guild’s registration form, uploading a few images or videos and noting what kind of conversation they’d like to have. During the event, each participant presents their work briefly, then the group engages in discussion.

Our inaugural session will be guided by Guild member, artist, and educator Vivienne Varay, who brings both technical expertise and a passion for teaching. Vivienne will help shape the conversation, keeping it constructive and inclusive while ensuring that each participant gets the feedback they’re hoping for.

Join the Conversation

Not ready to present this time? You’re still warmly invited to attend. Listening, asking questions, and contributing to the conversation are equally important ways to participate, and we encourage all Guild members to join in.

Show & Tell is about building connections—between ideas, between processes, and between the people who make up the Seattle Metals Guild. Whether you’re sharing a finished masterpiece, a tricky workbench problem, or simply your perspective as a thoughtful peer, you’re contributing to the strength of our community.
