The Womens Shelter
Jewelry Project
Our sister organization, The Women’s Shelter Jewelry Project, is fiscally sponsored by Angels for Angels, a not-for-profit organization. Their mission is to help every woman in a shelter build hope, one piece of jewelry at a time. It was founded in 1998 by Micki Lippe, a fine arts jeweler in Seattle, Washington. Her goal was to use her skills as a jeweler to help women experiencing domestic violence. It was originally a part of SMG but has branched out into its own non-profit!
Micki realized that there was plenty of unused jewelry that could be donated for women in shelters. Her efforts evolved into this program powered entirely by volunteers. The WSJP gives jewelry and cash grants to over 25 organizations and programs in Washington State. A piece of jewelry brings hope, dignity, and joy when it’s given for holidays, birthdays, a job interview, or to just lift spirits.
